Waterscapes Australia designs and builds natural water features for residential, commercial and municipal landscapes.

We create one-of-a-kind aquatic ecosystems in the form of streams, waterfalls, recreation and ecosystem ponds.

Each feature is individually crafted to blend with your existing landscape “like it has always been there”.

Creating well-balanced ecologies reduces maintenance and supports healthy fish and plants while transforming your backyard into an incredible, all-natural, low-maintenance paradise.

Waterscape come to life?

One species of bird you might notice spending time around your water feature is the Dusky Moorhen. These birds can grow up to 38 cm tall, with long legs and toes. The adult Dusky Moorhen tends to have a dark grey to black plumage with a white undertail and red beak (with yellow tip).

A member of the rail species, these water birds like to eat fruits, algae, shrub and grass tips, seeds, invertebrates and molluscs.

Imagine sitting atop a warm rock overlooking your swimming pond, or being curled up under a rug alongside your peaceful stream. We create water features that can be admired and enjoyed all year-round.

From having a swim in the summer to watching the lights dance off the water’s surface in the winter, Waterscapes is the home of designs that are beautiful, natural, and timeless.

A Pondless waterfall is the ideal feature for an outdoor area with a limited amount of space. This water feature can be created in small areas, providing tranquil running water in your garden or business without the need for heaps of square meterage.

We specialise in attention to detail with all of our projects, and these waterfalls can be just as stunning as larger designs. Plants and rocks are selected and added in to the Pondless waterfall feature with the same amount of care as would be used for any of our other projects.

Did you know that Lake Gkula in Woodfordia spans 1.4 acres and contains more than 12 million litres of water?! It is the largest naturally filtered lake of its kind in Australia.

Lake Gkula is home to more than 8,000 plants and over 16 species of Australian-native fish. A host of other animals also call this lake their home, including turtles, frogs, and lizards.

A recreation pond can provide support for native wildlife in the area. Birds can drink and bathe in it, lizards can sunbathe on its shores, and native frogs can lay their eggs in it, with their tadpoles then having a safe space to grow.

On top of all this, a recreation pond also provides a beautiful area for relaxing, socialising and swimming in for us!

A running stream is the perfect garden feature to chill out next to. At Waterscapes, we can create natural running streams without the use of chemicals. This means plenty of wonderful critters may begin calling your garden home, including butterflies, birds, and frogs. A Waterscapes stream is a great piece of bio-mimicry for a garden! ...

We built the Lotus Pond at the Gold Coast’s Dharma Realm in April 2020. This ecosystem pond was created to fit in seamlessly with the surrounding environment of the major Buddhist Temple. On behalf of Dharma Realm, Cliff Wang says:

“The Pond is very well designed, carefully constructed, beautifully presented, and perfectly merged to the environment. Since then, the Pond has become a wonderful attraction and people just love it. No doubt, choosing Waterscapes is the most correct decision we have made in this project.”

Lake Gkula is a stunning sight, with light reflecting off its surface, clear water, and cute fish zipping about. It won the 2020 Sustainability Award from the Landscape Queensland Industry Association Inc.

“Clear water to its 5.5m depths, the lake is a beautiful experience to swim and snorkel in and will only get better with time as the eel grass beds and wetland planting mature,” Patrick says.

One reptile that you may find calling your water feature home is the Snake-necked Turtle. Also sometimes called the Eastern Long-necked Turtle, this little critter loves to be swim about in freshwater, making ecosystem ponds an ideal habitat.

Snake-necked Turtles tend to grow up to about 11cms long, with the males being a little smaller than the females. These critters have a varied carnivore diet that can include plankton, fish, and insects.

Head to Lake Gkula (the swimming pond we built at Woodfordia) and you might just be able to spot some Snake-necked Turtles in action, enjoying the lake.

A peaceful stream can add wonder and value to a property. A stream is fantastic for adding to long and thin spaces that maybe couldn’t comfortably fit a large pond. You may like to add a waterfall to your stream, or keep it simple with a selection of rocks and plants.

We can create stunning streams on your property that make the most of the natural surrounds and look as if they have always been there.

Love taking a dip in freshwater streams and waterfalls, but dislike having to travel so far every time you get the urge? Consider having a freshwater recreation pond built in your own backyard!

We can create awe-inspiring water features that take pride of place in a garden. A recreation pond is a great space for friends and family to gather around, providing somewhere for children to learn more about nature, somewhere to dip your feet in when you need some downtime, or a cool and refreshing place to have a swim on a warm day.

The Snowflake White Water Fringe is a plant with leaves that floats atop the water’s surface. With dainty white flowers that have a yellow centre, this water plant is worth considering by those who want to add flowers to their pond.

An Australian-native, the Snowflake White Water Fringe can be grown in spaces that receive partial shade through to full sun.
